Doc Anello

 

Doc organized a big band in Newark N.J. and backed many acts, including Johnny Mathis, Eartha Kitt, Morey Amsterdam, Frankie Avalon, Engelbert Humperdinck and many others. The band also appeared in major hotels and ballrooms throughout the N.Y./N.J. metropolitan area.

 

He worked many of the nightclubs in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and the Catskill Mountains. He appeared as the opening act and played with numerous stars, including Johnny Ray, Gregory and Maurice Hines, Rip Taylor, Totie Fields, Bobby Rydell, Fabian, Leslie Gore and others. Doc's Quintet appeared at the Silhouette Club in New Jersey with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

 

Doc started his Big Band, "The Swing Machine", and also featured a dynamic duo, trio, quartet, quintet, and sextet along with his fantastic vocals.

 

The Band has appeared at the Orange County Fair, Marriot Resort, Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, The Rose Parade in Pasadena, The Queen Mary, Harrah's Casino, USC Hall of Fame, KLAC, The Fabulous 690 Radio Station. Doc has been featured at events for Jet Blue Airlines, Miramax Films movie premieres, The Hollywood Palladium, The Grove in Anaheim, and dance clubs. His vocals include music from the swing, jazz, and big band era.

 

Madeline Vergari - Vocalist

 

Madeline Vergari landed her first professional job with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians. Madeline moved to Los Angeles and joined the Ray Conniff Singers, Ray Anthony and the Bookend Revue, and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. She has sung with the Johnny Mann Singers, Les Brown, Bob Crosby, and Frank Sinatra Jr. Madeline sung at the White House for President Nixon and the Inaugural for President Reagan. She and members of her choir can be heard on a new TV show called "Are Your Smarter Than A Fifth Grader". She appears at Disneyland Carnation Plaza Gardens with The Doc Anello Swing Machine.

Brian Bettger - Trumpet: Composer/Arranger, played with Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Pacific Symphony and The Disneyland Band.

 

Tim Rubottom - Trumpet: Member of the Disneyland Band for the last 20 years, Les Brown Big Band, Johnny Crawford Orchestra and Long Beach Municipal Band. Toured with Ray Coniff to Japan and South America and performed musicals at The Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles and Orange County Performing Arts Center.

 

Dave Woodley - Trombone: Played with the Jazz Institute Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey, Bill Tole, Jimmy Heath, Natalie Cole, Trini Lopez, Steve Allen, Jack Jones and performed in several movie soundtracks and TV Commercials.

 

Pat Chartrand - Tenor Sax: Played with Harry James, Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, Charlie Barnett, Billy May, Terry Gibbs, Van ALexander and Xavier Cougat. Pat is also a PGA Golf Pro.

 

Jim Youngstrom - Alto Sax: Toured with Brian Setzer, Horace Heidt and Alvino Rey Bands. He played for Jerry Lewis and productions of "Crazy For You" and "Singin' in the Rain".

 

Jim Hahn - Baritone Sax: Played with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He is the West Coast Coordinator for a National Music Festival Company & Master of Ceremonies for The Tournament of Roses.

 

Fred Carroll - Piano: Jazz pianist and accompanist. Played with Debbie Reynolds, Rip Taylor, Ella Mae Morse and Doc Anello.

 

Larry Walters - Bass: Played for Woody Herman, Harry James & others. Leader of the Sunshine Balloon Band at Disneyland Tomorrowland Terrace for 13 years.

 

Rich Watson - Drums: Played for Roger Williams, Carol Lawrence, Bob Newhart & Buddy Greco. Music director for El Dorado High School in Placentia. Bands won Reno Jazz Festival & played the Sydney Olympics and Tournament of Roses Parade.
